I have been SO worried about her through the cold nights and especially the past week with tornadoes and strong winds. I'd try to be quiet getting in and out of the car and gently roll the big can to the road weekly for garbage collection, if she'd not freak out over every move I made and swoop away. There were 3 blue eggs! Immediately, I formed a pact with Momma Bird. Later, I saw the nest in it's glorious completed state and I was too curious to resist: I peeked. The flowers are fake, so they'll last, and when we returned from our honeymoon, we saw that someone had hung them up on lights that are mounted on either side of our garage door. I noticed a few weeks ago a robin building a nest in one of the wreaths Wesley and I used at our wedding. I absolutely DO NOT plant anything until after my birthday. I just want it to settle down so I can start my garden. We had near-snow last week and all this week there have been tornadoes. I know from many birthdays that you can't plan on too much in April. Can I say the time dragon was awesome? The set and costuming was great and I felt myself wishing I could have what it takes for such a wonderful thing as broadway. Totally worth it, and I wish I could see it again someday.īefore the show started, I snapped a pic of the stage. I was really creeped out at the monkeys and I laughed. I liked that Elphie and Fiyero got their happy ending. I am such a conundrum: I can take abuse from patrons, but I cry over imaginary characters. By the end, I was so moved, I cried on the walk to the car. A-MAZING! I was in tears at the end of the first act, and had to compose myself quick. I got good seats, and used the expense as an excuse to ring in my 30th, though it's Thursday. So I bought a ticket for W and me for this April's B'ham show. I try not to hold a grudge, but it really bothered me. My pals D&J and D&S broke my heart when they went to see it in Nashville several years ago. It nagged me evenmore as I watched "Pushing Daisies" on TV, relishing in Kristen Chenoweth's amazing voice (). Luckily, pal Julie talked me down, but I was very sad I never got to see the first run. I tore through sequels and when the musical came out, I contemplated putting myself further in debt (thanks, student loans!) by taking out a loan for a plane ticket, hotel stay and the finest seats in Broadway. Such is the wonder and tragedy of Elphaba, otherwise known as the Wicked Witch of the West. I mean, c'mon! What's not to love when an author can not only make you like a traditionally villianized character, but actually root for her. After I read a galley copy of Wicked when I was a wee bookseller at the Evil Empire, I fell in love with the OZ mythology all over again.
